Progressive metal kings Mastodon are currently in the studio recording the follow-up to their groundbreaking 2009 concept album "Crack The Skye".

Progressive metal kings Mastodon are currently in the studio recording the follow-up to their groundbreaking 2009 concept album "Crack The Skye". 


The band is currently recording at Doppler Studios in their hometown of Atlanta with producer Mike Elizondo who recently produced Avenged Sevenfold's "Nightmare". Elizondo is also known for his work with artists such as Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Maroon 5, Nelly Furtado and Pink

Drum tracks for Mastodon's forthcoming effort have been previously completed in Los Angeles at the legendary Sound City Studios where Nirvana's masterwork "Nevermind" was recorded. The band have confirmed that two songs called "Blasteroids" and "All The Heavy Lifting" will be featured on the new record which is expected for release later this year.
