Deftones have announced plans to begin recording the follow up to their latest album 'Diamond Eyes' and are aiming at a release date of early 2012.

Deftones have announced plans to begin recording the follow up to their latest album 'Diamond Eyes' and are aiming at a release date of early 2012.


In a recent interview, frontman Chino Moreno made the following comments:

"We're going to have a month off, but in that month, we're talking about going in and starting to write again, maybe even two or three weeks in a rehearsal spot just recording ideas and keeping it going. So if all goes well, hopefully we'll have some product for early next year."


They're planning to record album no. 7 with bassist Sergio Vega, who filled in for Chi Cheng after he was severely injured in an automobile accident in 2008. Moreno says that Cheng is still in a "semi-conscious state" and not able to communicate, but the vocalist says Cheng is showing improvement.
