Domino Records has announced the full release of a 'Franz Ferdinand – Covers EP'. The EP was first released as part of the Record Store Day celebrations on April 16 and is now available on CD or black vinyl.

There are five tracks on the EP with different artists performing Franz Ferdinand songs, all from the most recent album, Tonight: Franz Ferdinand. The artists include LCD Soundsystem, Peaches, ESG, Stephen Merrit (from Magnetic Fields) and Debbie Harry. The tracks can be heard here.

LCD Soundsystem cover a version of ‘Live Alone’, layering dance beats and tinkering piano into the song which get the best out of the chorus.

New York punk-rockers ESG (Emerald, Saphire and Gold) do an impressive rendition of ‘What She Came For’ which sticks tight to the formula of the original but is given a new type of spunk and sticks with one hell of a rolling bass line.

The EP was released as of May 2nd, 2011.
