Paul Di'anno, the former vocalist of Iron Maiden, has been jailed after being found guilty of fraud. Di'anno was sentenced to nine months imprisonment after illegally claiming over  £45,000 in government income assistance.

Di'anno, who fronted Iron Maiden from 1978 to 1981, claimed he suffered severe nerve damage to his back that prevented him from working. He was however caught when the UK Department of Work and Pensions investigators spotted a YouTube video of him jumping around on stage during a live show in 2006. The footage, from his own website and video sharing site YouTube, showed the singer energetically moving across the stage, putting his claims in severe doubt.

Di’Anno sang lead vocals on the first two Iron Maiden albums ‘Iron Maiden’ and ‘Killers’. Current singer Bruce Dickinson replaced Di’Anno after alleged difficulties with drug addiciton, in September 1981 and sang on their next record ‘The Number of the Beast’ featuring the world-wide hit ‘Run To The Hills’.
