Hard rock outfit High On Fire have experienced their second natural disaster in sixteen days, having been in Japan for the devastating earthquake which hit the island nation on Friday. The earthquake and subsequent tsunami struck off the shore of Japan, creating widespread damage.

High On Fire were in Tokyo where they were to play a show when the earthquake hit. The band was unharmed, but shaken, as they had also been in Christchurch, New Zealand when a 6.3-magnitude earthquake hit on February 22, the nation's deadilest natural disaster in 80 years.

"Our thoughts go out to all the people of the world who have already been through such agony during these tragedies and are now going through much worse," said the band in a statement. "To all those who have lost loved ones in particular, you have our deepest sympathies."

High On Fire toured New Zealand from February 19-24 before taking part in Australia's 2011 Soundwave Festival. Upon the conclusion of the Australian dates, the group flew to Japan where it performed in the cities of Osaka and Nagoya  before traveling to Tokyo for a planned show on Friday. The band and its crew is expected to return to its hometown of Oakland, California soon.
