Australian metal better watch its collective backs as Montreal's masters of brutality, Despised Icon, have marked Australia as the next target on their final world tour before the band ends. In a moment of bittersweet irony, November 2010 will also be the first time that the deathcore six-piece hit these shores, for a run of six shows Australia-wide. Since 2002, Despised Icon have been giving the world a true lesson in musical violence and nowhere is this more evident than in their most recent album, Day Of Mourning. With six releases under their belts and having toured the world with the likes of The Black Dahlia Murder, Behemoth, Hatebreed and Parkway Drive, Despised Icon are now turning their attention to Australia. “It’s hard to believe we started this band almost 10 years ago already. “It’s hard to believe we started this band almost 10 years ago already. At first, Despised Icon was mostly just an excuse to hang out, write brutal slam riffs and play local shows once in a while,” says the band of their break up. “With your support, we got the opportunity to actually play music for a living, make friends around the world, be MVPs and travel to places we never even dreamed of visiting in our lifetime.”

Joining Despised Icon on the road will be Melbourne’s metal heavyweights The Red Shore and Sydney’s Thy Art Is Murder.

The Red Shore do not let themselves be defined by boundaries – not with their releases or their live show. And with their sophomore full-length, The Avarice Of Man, due out September 3rd and an extensive US and European tour on the way, The Red Shore’s reputation as an extreme metal powerhouse is about to skyrocket even further!

If you caught them on the sell-out Mistake Clothing tour, you would know that Thy Art Is Murder is known for their brutal breakdowns, punishing blast beats and gore-riddled, controversial lyrics. With their debut full-length, The Adversary, having just hit record store shelves, Thy Art Is Murder will be an unmissable addition to the tour.

This will be Australia’s last chance to see Despised Icon destroying venues, melting faces and punishing audiences with the brand of brutality that they pioneered eight years ago. As the band themselves have said, “These last shows will be fucking epic! See you guys then!”
