According to daily music news items, Sum 41 front man Deryck Whibley was recently hoispitalised after being attacked by three men in Japan.

According to daily music news items, Sum 41 front man Deryck Whibley was recently hoispitalised after being attacked by three men in Japan.


The musician was assaulted in a bar fight with reports suggesting Whibley sustained a slipped disc in his back as a result of the attack.

In a statement prepared by the band, Sum 41 said the 30 year-old was still in hospital.


“It is unfortunate to say, but Deryck Whibley is still in the hospital. He was attacked late last night in Japan. We are waiting for results and we are hoping for the best. Thanks for your support.”


Sum 41 will be here next year as part of Soundwave 2011. With guitarist John 5 of fellow Soundwave act Rob Zombie breaking his foot in an unrelated incident recently; can we start to wonder whether there is a Soundwave curse?
