Since forming in 2005, Philadelphia natives THE WONDER YEARS have wasted little time in establishing themselves as one of the scene’s hardest working bands. With a slew of seven-inches, splits, EP’s and of course, their debut full-length Get Stoked On It to their name, it was the release of their sophomore album – 2010’s The Upsides – that really cemented THE WONDER YEARS’ place atop the pop punk heap.
Hailed by Absolute Punk as being “an early contender for album of the year,” The Upsides is an honest and refreshing record that has impressed both fans and critics the world over. It’s little wonder that AMP Magazine described the group as “one of the finest bands to ever grace the genre.”
Sharing an equally impressive work ethic to that of their US counterparts, Sydney contenders HEROES FOR HIRE have spent the bulk of 2010 on the road, headlining their own shows as well as touring nationally with highly touted Detroit outfit Fireworks and the massive double-header of Boys Like Girls and Hot Chelle Rae.
The quartet’s first single “Bright Lights In Paradise” snagged the attention of Triple J Unearthed, who awarded the band the only Australian spot on the Sydney leg of this year’s mammoth Soundwave Festival alongside Paramore, Faith No More, AFI and Jimmy Eat World. Constructing their own website to release the “Bright Lights In Paradise” video, the overwhelming response crashed the boys server under the weight of activity, and with this growing buzz, HEROES FOR HIRE’S debut album Life Of The Party debuted on the AIR charts at #4.
There will be five different purchase options for A Split Record, including multiple colour combinations and one-off tee shirt designs from both bands.
