The Push, FReeZACentral and Blunt Magazine are proud to launch Escape To OZ, a collection of metal, hardcore and rock artists involved in the 2010 FReeZACentral Mentoring Program & Tour; and more young local bands have the chance to be part of it!

FReeZACentral is part of Victoria Rocks, a Victorian Government initiative, and is managed by The Push and Mushroom Marketing to help budding young artists kick start their music careers.

The forthcoming FReeZACentral 2010 Escape To Oz compilation will feature young emerging mentee acts Ayera, The Deep End, Legacy and Exo Majesty alongside their mentor’s bands Carpathian, Jonesez, Pete Sounds and Walk The Earth. Additionally, the compilation will also feature special guests on the Escape To OZ - FReeZACentral 2010 Tour including House Vs Hurricane, Confession and Heroes For Hire! Escape To OZ will be exclusively available on the cover of Blunt Magazine’s August issue, on sale, August 4!

Escape To OZ will be launched at three all ages dates in late August around Victoria with mentee bands Ayera, The Deep End and Legacy alongside special guests House Vs Hurricane, Confession and Heroes for Hire - Friday 27 August at EV’s Croydon, Saturday 28 August at West Geelong Town Hall and Sunday 29 August at Wodonga Civic Centre. Tickets are on sale now via Oztix.com.au.

Three young local bands will also have the opportunity to join the tour! The Push and FReeZACentral are looking for a local band from each area to play the opening support spot. Keen bands should mail a bio (including hometown and links to where music can be listened to online) via freezacentral@thepush.com.au by Friday 23 July. Winners will be announced on 30 July. For more info, call The Push on (03) 9380 1277. At least one band member must live/work/recreate in the town or surrounding area the tour is visiting, and be under 25 years of age. Bands that fit the bill – eg. hardcore, rock, metal, prog, emo, punk bands are urged to apply!

FReeZACentral annually pairs 50 young Victorians with music industry mentors across five streams including performance, technical production, event management, music business and marketing and publicity. On top of getting learning from a music industry mentor, the mentees release a CD, work on festivals and organise a tour. For info go to freezacentral.vic.gov.au or thepush.com.au or call The Push on (03) 9380 1277.
