One of the original members of iconic masked metal band Slipknot, Crahan was, in what one can only describe as bizarre news, nominated to run for Iowa Governor in this year’s state elections.

Contact Music writes, “The clown-faced drummer, who grew up in Iowa, was put forward by a local independent newspaper, with editors at the Cityview publication praising the star's love of his native state and his ability to attract young voters.”

However, fans of Slipknot should not despair, with Crahan laughing off the nomination – although, the surprising recommendation has given the musician something to ponder.

Speaking to Britain’s Kerrang! Magazine recently, Crahan said that politics factored in to future endeavours.

"I swear that one day, I'll run for mayor. I want to bring people together. If I wanted to get a little more twisted or worldly, in a crazy way, politics would be it. But, right now, I'm a f**king rock star,” Crahan told Kerrang!
