After much speculation, Trivium has officially announced that Drummer and founding member, Travis Smith is no longer part of the band. His replacement is Nick Augusto (ex Maruta). In a statement taken from the bands website, “Florida metallers TRIVIUM are pleased to announce Nick Augusto as their new permanent drummer. Augusto was introduced to Trivium fans when he filled in behind the kit on last fall’s “Into the Mouth of Hell We Tour” trek. He is now stepping in to permanently replace the departing Travis Smith.” In the full statement there is no explanation as to why Travis has left, or been kicked out. Augusto has recently recorded two new tracks with the band, “Shattering the Skies Above” and a cover of Sepultura’s “Slave New World.” A thirty second clip of Augusto tracking drums for “Shattering the Skies Above” can be seen at the bottom of the statement.
