The Amity Affliction have parted ways with guitarist Christopher Burt. The decision was mutual and had been planned for some time. His last show was in London earlier this month. While all the members are still good friends with Chris, the decision was made in the best interest of the band musically, with the band currently writing a new album and getting set to record in the US in March.

Hey Everyone,

So the decision has been made to part ways with Amity after a few years playing with the guys. I guess it had been coming for a while for me, especially as we’ve started writing the second album. I could tell that I was heading in a different direction musically than the other guys, which made it hard for me to be part of the writing process. We decided that with the massive commitment coming in the next couple of years to the album it’s best that everyone is 100% into it. In the end, I think the best thing for me was to move on.

Having said that, I’m stoked on what we achieved in my time in the band, and I’m still good friends with everyone in the band. It’s just time to move on and start down a different path. Thanks to every fan and everyone involved in the band, as well as the other 5 Amity guys. I can’t wait to see what you guys do next, I’m sure it’s gonna be massive.

Adios!

Chris

Amity are sad to see Chris go, and wish him the best in everything he’s done – the UK was the perfect way to see him off.

Taking over from Chris on guitar will be Clint Splattering formerly of The Getaway Plan – who broke up mid 2009. Clint has been close friends with the band for years, and is a top notch guitarist and songwriter. Make sure you welcome him on his first ever shows with Amity starting NYE at Rosies in Brisbane and on the rest of the Endless Bummer tour.
