Propelled by a tireless work ethic that has seen them snake their way across Australia, New Zealand and Europe countless times, Byron Bay come Melbourne hardcore crew 50 Lions are a welcome addition to this year’s festivities. Strengthened by the recent acquisition of former Her Nightmare vocalist Luke Bainbridge on guitar, this road-hardened act will be touring in support of their second full-length, Where Life Expires. Produced by Sam Johnson at Melbourne’s 3 Phase Studios, the record contains 50 Lions’ strongest material to date, something that will be reinforced by the band’s tough as nails live show.

Formed by vocalist/lyricist Ryan McKenney (ex-Backstabbers Inc.) and guitarist Brian Izzi (ex-December Wolves), Trap Them are one of the most abrasive and confronting musical collectives to have emerged in recent memory. Combining elements of Swedish death metal, punk and hardcore, the band has released a slew of critically acclaimed seven-inches, EP’s and full-length records through the highly regarded Deathwish label, all of which has culminated in the group’s recent signing with heavy music powerhouse, Prosthetic Records. With a brand-new album in the works for the first half of 2010, Trap Them are poised to be the metal community’s next big thing.

Rounding out the bill is Wollongong’s own Mary Jane Kelly. Having played with everyone from Propagandhi to Bring Me The Horizon, this melody driven hardcore quartet have enjoyed a huge 2009, a trend that is set to continue when they drop their debut long-play in early 2010! Titled Like There’s No Tomorrow, the release deals with a plethora of issues, ranging from the deeply personal to the highly controversial, while the instrumental aspect of the record sees the band push the limits of their own technicality.
