Green Day goes Broadway

Green Day have finialized plans to turn their 2004 hit album ‘American Idiot‘ into a musical play. It will be directed by Michael Mayer who will be joined by choreographer Steven Hoggett and music supervisor Tom Kitt.

Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong commented on the musical:

"We’ve been working with Michael Mayer and the show’s creative team for quite some time, so we know how super-talented all of them are. Each and every one of these people has gone above and beyond for this show, and we can’t wait for our fans to see it."

Billie Joe also said he would like to see the album be turned into a feature film:

"I thought American Idiot had a lot in common with something like Rocky Horror Picture Show. It would be great to see a film made out of it someday too".

Green Day last released ‘21st Century Breakdown‘ this earlier this year.

Most stupid idea I’ve ever heard…
“I thought American Idiot had a lot in common with something like Rocky Horror Picture Show.”

What an arrogant fuck… I hope this band implodes.. Clearly this band is too big for its own good…

Remember when all they cared about was masturbation and getting high?
I like to think of those as the good times.

“Remember when all they cared about was masturbation and getting high?” That may be true “Charmer” and I somewhat agree but let’s face it they were singing about that when they were in their twenties – they’re 37 now. Growing up not only physically but musically was bound to happen don’t you think? Plus to “willscarlett” – with 10 (or it may be 11, lacking in numerical skills at the moment) awesome albums to their name, millions of fans, sold out mass stadium shows, a firm place within musical history – I think they’re allowed to acknowledge their success and relish in their status and pretty much do whatever the hell they want. They have nothing more to prove.
