Everybody's new favourite indie/punk/soul trio PHILADELPHIA GRAND JURY have signed a joint venture with Boomtown Records to release their debut album.

Since forming in early 2008, the fiercely independent Philly Jays have maintained a DIY approach. With Boundary Sounds at the management helm, they have recorded and produced all their own tracks under their own ‘Normal People Making Hits’ label, taken tracks such as 'Going to the Casino' and 'Ready To Roll' to high rotation at radio, and toured nationally in support of those tracks (earning them highly flattering live reviews). In the new arrangement Melbourne indie label Boomtown Records will be releasing the album as a joint venture with 'Normal People Making Hits', and using their long-term distributor Shock to get the records into stores.

Manager Martin Novosel (Boundary Sounds) says: 'Having a hands-on approach to their music and business is very important to Philadelphia Grand Jury, and in forming a partnership with Boomtown and Shock, the band and I are very excited to know that the DIY ethic will not only be preserved, but also that these two clever, resourceful and passionate organisations will provide the marketing and distribution know-how to ensure even more people get to experience the music of The Philly Jays.'

Berkfinger (Philadelphia Grand Jury) says: "Philadelphia Grand Jury are well glad to be doing some sort of music business type thing with Boomtown and Shock. They took us for dinner one time and it was greatly appreciated. We get so god damn hungry on the road and knowing that we are in such capable and generous hands is a great weight off our shoulders."

Luke Logemann (Boomtown Records /Shock) says: 'Philadelphia Grand Jury play the kind of music that excites people, and we were instantly hooked just like everyone else. This excitement is evident in the team around them and Boomtown is no exception. 2009 is the year of the Philly Jays!'

In other exciting news, the Philly Jays are pleased to announce the release of their debut 7-inch four-track self-titled EP. Yes! The limited edition physical release on 7-inch vinyl (ft. 'Casino', ‘Ready to Roll' , 'I'm Going To Kill You' and b-side 'Pitchshifter Blues') is sure to become a collector's item and will be available at shows and all good record stores. The iTunes only digital release is available from 1 June.

The Philly Jays are doing some heavy-duty touring throughout May and June, causing trouble in the capitals with BLUEJUICE and with more shows to be announced.

Debut album out Spring 2009.
