Butch Vig named as Green Day producer

Veteran producer Butch Vig (Nirvana, Jimmy Eat World, Against Me!) has apparently penned a deal to produce the next Green Day record.

No official word from the band or Vig himself, however one of Vig’s bandmates (from Garbage) apparently let the news slip on Carson Daily.

We can expect the new Green Day album in 2009 sometime. The band last released ‘American Idiot’ in 2004.
