of their debut EP “Targets” this coming July.
It’s been over a year since
Boomtown has added any Australian acts to it’s roster, and they’ve
spent the time waiting for the perfect band to catch their ears and
eyes. They came across A Year to Remember on the recommendation of both
industry friends, staff of Blunt Magazine and members of bands already
on the label. In the limited shows the band had played, they managed
to impress all the right people, and as soon as Boomtown Records A&R
Luke Logemann heard the recorded material, he knew this was a band the
label should work with.
Says Luke Logemann: “This
band is the perfect summer party music. Fun, catchy, clever and quirky
– even in the cold Melbourne winter, the music makes it feel like
a warm December night drinking on a friends balcony. They take the best
elements of classic Aussie bands like Lo-Tel and Jebediah, and mix them
with the synth punk pop of The Get Up Kids and Motion City Soundtrack.
Everyone at Boomtown is extremely excited about this band.”
A Year to Remember hail from
Brisbane, are an average age of 20 years old, they like to party and
write music, and are getting set to release their debut EP, “Targets”,
this July. The EP includes 5 songs that the band had previously pressed
onto the CD themselves and sold at live shows, as well as a new track
“We Stayed”, which they recorded especially for the re-release.
The 6 song EP will be released via Boomtown Records on July 5th.
A Year to Remember also managed
to catch the ear of Destroy All Lines booking agency, who have added
the band to their roster for all live performances.
“Targets” on July 12th.
