Melbourne’s

party minded super group get set to round out their massive first year with a

graduation celebration worth dressing fresh for.

When Horsell Common members Luke Cripps (Bass) and Leigh

Pengelly (Guitar) decided that playing 100 shows a year and recording amazing

albums wasn’t quite enough involvement with music, they enlisted Trial

Kennedy’s love-ridden merch infant Simon Blangiardo (Vocals) and Asian

ex-guitarist of The Getaway Plan, Benny Chong (Guitar), to create one of the

best upcoming party pop groups in Melbourne. Rounding out the six-piece is

traffic stopping female Keyboardist Lisa Gammaldi and sexually aware Drummer

Anthony Doube.

Together, this group of wannabe teenagers form CAPESIDE, Australia’s

answer to HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL… but better!

Having started their brief six-month career with a sold-out

night at Melbourne’s Rob Roy, the un-punk party bus continued it’s way to

stardom by supporting HELLO GOODBYE and pulling a crowd for GYM CLASS HEROES,

blitzing both bands in the process and becoming known as the band who is

“better than any band they ever play with” (source not identified). They

followed up their breakthrough success by recording a demo and starting a

Myspace account, much to the disbelief of jealous onlookers.

By now, things are getting serious, and CAPESIDE are out to

prove their dominance of the schoolyard and overall popularity once and for all

with the CAPESIDE HIGH SCHOOL PROM.

Held at the Evelyn Hotel on December 14, the Prom is open to

anyone wishing to be schooled in the art of funk and pop by these legendary

torchbearers. For anyone who dresses in prom clothes, they will receive

two-for-the-price-of-one entry (R.I.P Crazy John) and will have their prom

photo taken for free by school photographer Kanye Lens. There will also be

exclusive videos played on the night as an ode to school life, and a prize will

be given out for the Prom King and Queen at the end of the night.
