The Amity Affliction Sign to Boomtown Records

Official Press Release:

Those in the know might say it has been a long time coming. For everyone else, THE AMITY AFFLICTION is the surprise act of the Australian Hardcore scene in 2007. With the release of their ‘High Hopes’ EP in March, the band made a quick rise to become one of the most sought after bands on the national touring circuit, squeezing in supports for Underoath and He is Legend amongst well received headline tours and a spot on Taste of Chaos 2006.

Boomtown is now proud to announce to signing of THE AMITY AFFLICTION in a deal that will see them release the band’s debut album mid 2008. THE AMITY AFFLICTION will add a heavier element to an already stellar label roster that includes The Getaway Plan, Horsell Common and In Fiction.

Boomtown’s A&R Manager, Luke Logemann had this to say on the signing, “THE AMITY AFFLICTION bring an element to hardcore that is both refreshing and interesting. They know how to have fun while still sending a great message, and they have proved you can have melody and sonic diversity and still be as heavy as any other band around. Over the past year they have become one of our favourite bands, and we are really excited to have the chance to help back them to become as big as they deserve to be”.

Vocalist Joel Birch also commented on the signing, “Boomtown is a label we’ve been closely associated with for the past year and this move is something that just felt really natural for us. They are a team that is hell-bent on doing everything in their power to promote their bands and that’s something we’re really excited about; the opportunity to work with close friends as well is what prompted us to make the move. Some of our best friends are signed to the label so it does feel in some ways like a large extended family and that closeness is what we look forward to being a part of for the next few years and into the future.”

THE AMITY AFFLICTION will record a one-off track to appear on a compilation CD gracing the cover of Blunt Magazine in November, and will spend the month touring as part of this year’s Boomtown Showdown Tour alongside The Getaway Plan, In Fiction and Elora Danan.

Brisbane’s THE AMITY AFFLICTION has signed to Boomtown for their debut album, to be released in mid 2008. The band will be touring with the Boomtown Showdown throughout November as part of the label’s 5th Birthday celebrations, and is currently traveling with Deez Nuts and The Daylight Curse on the Drunk & Disorderly Tour.
