In September 2006, Horsell Common made a lot of noise with their Boomtown Records debut EP, Satellite Wonderland. Debuting at #1 on Independent Records Charts (#14 on Australian ARIA Charts), the record remained in the Top 10 for over six months. Propelled by airplay from their 2006 singles Everlasting, Royal Artillery and You, they combined solid headline touring with main stage appearances at Overcranked and Push Over Festivals to solidify a loyal fanbase around the country.

In Winter 2007, Horsell Common finally settled to write and record the debut album that will capture what the band has been working towards for close four years. Catching the ear of US producer Stephen Haigler (The Pixies, Quicksand, Brand New), the band enlisted the veteran to help produce and mix the album in Melbourne with the help of Richard Stolz. The process was as intense as it was rewarding, with the band finishing 11 of the most diverse and inspired tracks they have ever penned. The final result is the bands distinctive battle-cry, hereby known as The Rescue

The first single off The Rescue will be their defining anthem, Good From Afar - A statement of the band’s intent to detach themselves from any scene or trend. The track has the blistering energy Horsell Common have become renowned for, and displays their equal love for the alternative rock of the 90s and the power that made 80s punk rock so exciting. The film clip, shot in the historic Flinders St Station Ballroom, covers the three pieces intense love for playing music together – something they have done in various forms since they were children.

Good From Afar will be released on September 1st through Boomtown / Shock Records, with four b-sides including a remix of the single, covers of Life Of Agony and Jimmy Eat World, and an acoustic rendition of Blood and Wine from 2006’s Satellite Wonderland EP. The single will retail for in all record stores, and will be available via iTunes on August 28th

To launch the single, Horsell Common will tour the east coast as part of Optus Breakout 07, alongside Grinspoon, The Butterfly Effect, Youth Group, Gyroscope and Little Birdy. The tour will reach an under 18s fanbase in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne throughout September. In October, Horsell Common will play Triple J’s AWOL Festival in Burnie, Tasmania – the set will be recorded live to air on Triple J, and will be played in full on JTV Online and ABC TV.
