More Muse More Muse

The 2023 Grammy Awards nominees were announced overnight, and it's been pretty interesting perusing through the list.

For one, there's only one Aussie act up for a nomination, and that's Rüfüs Du Sol.

We're particularly bummed that there's no showing of Australian rock and metal - not even AC/DC; what's going on? - we would have loved to see Northlane, Parkway Drive, Alpha Wolf, Malevolence, or Windwaker get a nod and international recognition for their trailblazing work.

It's a disappointing year for Aussie artists at the Grammys. Hopefully, next year will be better.

According to the Recording Academy, Muse are metal now, as their track Kill Or Be Killed received a Best Metal Performance nomination alongside Ghost with Call Me Little Sunshine, Megadeth with We'll Be Back, Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi's newest collaboration, Degradation Rules, and Turnstile with Blackout.

Huge stuff for Turnstile - their first Grammy nominations see them also up for Best Rock Performance with Holiday and Best Rock Song for Blackout again.

British post-punk band Idles - whose massive Australian tour just wrapped up - have received their first Recording Academy nods in Best Rock Performance (Crawl!) and Best Rock Album with Crawler.

Elsewhere in the Rock and Metal categories, no real shocks: Grammy-favourite Brandi Carlile deserves her place in multiple categories with her genre-defying album, In These Silent Days; The War On Drugs are back with Harmonia's Dream, and Machine Gun Kelly is up for Best Rock Album. Okay, that one is a bit of a surprise.
