Rejoice! A new Touché Amoré album is coming in 2020 - 'Lament' - with the release of new single, 'Limelight.'

Outside of 'Green' and 'Deflector' from their 2019 seven-inch, and their re-recording of '...To The Beat Of A Dead Horse' for its tenth anniversary ('Dead Horse X'), it's been four years since we've had a proper new LP from Touché Amoré wet our eyes, lump our throats, and break our hearts. 2016's 'Stage Four' - a desperate, personal and incredibly raw detailing of frontman Jeremy Bolm's mother passing away and him dealing with the fourth stage of grief (depression) - was another blisteringly passionate melodic-hardcore punk album. Like all of their other three stellar records, in fact. And if new single 'Limelight' is anything to go off, the very same will be true of their next album, 'Lament.'

'Limelight' is about the deeply shared life experiences between two people - whether they be friends, family, or lovers - and how those trails, tribulations and losses can shape and strengthen that relationship. Jeremy spoke about the song's meaning of the quiet understanding and comfortable silence between two people who have weathered difficult moments side-by-side, writing that:

"When you're connected to someone long enough, and you've both suffered losses and been there for one another, there's an understanding and a beauty to the quiet moments. There's a great line in 'Pulp Fiction' when Uma Thurman boasts knowing when you've found someone really special, when you can just 'shut the fuck up for a minute, and comfortably share silence.'"

'Limelight' is book-ended by these drifting, sparse de-tuned guitars; minimal six-string figures that sandwich a dynamic and heartfelt, melodic post-hardcore soundscape that's oozing in honesty. The very kind that has helped to make Touché Amoré a house-hold name at this musical intersection of emo, punk, post-hardcore, and melodic hardcore. Andy Hull from Manchester Orchestra takes over the song's sentimental bridge part, contrasting the harsher tones and screams of Jeremy with his soft singing, before vocally over-lapping with him. Then, the songs chaotic crescendo of huge cymbal crashes and thrashing distorted guitars creates a passionate declaration of two people (or a group of people, like a band) spending the rest of their time together, no matter what horrible shit may be thrust in front of their path: "So let's embrace the twilight, while burning out the limelight."

New album 'Lament' is out October 9th via Epitaph, and will feature 'Deflector,' though whether it's a new or unaltered version of the 2019 track remains to be known. If you're itching for more Touché Amoré, go rewatch their 1,000th live show - it stills rips!
