Crystal Lake team up with their friends in Noisemaker and Shadows for new collab track, 'Dawn.'

For fans of Crystal Lake, here's something a little different from the Japanese metalcore group to tide you over until new material drops next month.

A recent collaboration between Japanese alternative nu-metallers Noisemaker, post-hardcore rock act Shadows (featuring Hironobu Onose, former singer of the awesome FACT) and Crystal Lake - Future Foundation is a project shared by all three bands - 'Dawn' is an upbeat, anthem-styled pop-punk track pulled together by various members from each of these bands. Especially all three of the vocalists. Between all of the rhythmic bounces, hooky pop-punk, bright vocal harmonies and major guitar melodies, are inter-spliced the familiar heavier parts we expect from Crystal Lake, with the song taking a far more metal turn halfway through. It's all kinda like if Crystal Lake continued the melodic, hookier sound of 'True North' (2017) instead of following it up with 'Helix' (2019.)

This isn't anything that special, but it's a cute, fun little catchy song, showing all of the different sides of its shared creators. There's also a short mini-doco in Japanese about this new iTunes exclusive song from all involved that you can watch over here.

Currently, the ever-prolific Crystal Lake have two new songs, entitled 'Watch Me Burn' and 'Disobey,' slated for a July 10th release, so get keen. Not only that, and perhaps more excitingly for long time listeners, the band are planning to re-record select songs from their original demo and first two albums - 'Dimension' (2006) and 'Into The Great Beyond' (2010) - in a new crowdfunded compilation release titled 'Voyages.' So keep an eye out for this "Back To Roots" project in the future.

Here's a less-than-stellar quality stream of 'Dawn' that I found on YouTube. You're welcome.
