Polyphia are teaming up with TheNeedleDrop's Anthony Fantano for a new chariy compilation release.

The meme-loving progressive instrumentalists are teaming up with TheNeedleDrop's Anthony Fantano for a new charity compilation release.

Alongside acclaimed artists like Zeal & Ardor, Xiu Xiu, and various others that the "internet's busiest music nerd" has positively reviewed lately, Polyphia are adding an old deep cut of theirs to a new charity release put together by the famed music critic. Simply called 'The Needle Drop' (out November 8th), proceeds from this new compilation record will go towards The Immigrant Legal Resource Center, an American nonprofit that hopes to help immigrant families receive fair treatment when entering the U.S. "through actions such as community education programs, legal training, technical assistance, and policy, development, and advocacy..."

As for the song itself, 'Inferno,' Polyphia's addition here is actually their 2017 instrumental cover of 9mm Parabellum Bullet's theme for the newer (read: worst) seasons of Berserk; now made officially available online in-full for the first-ever time after only being an exclusive Japanese bonus track for their EP, 'The Most Hated.' As such, this brief J-rock-loving scorcher sees the faster, heavier Polyphia riffing away with blasting speed, sweet harmonics, and guitar-shredding precision; feeling more like their brighter prog-metal sound from the earlier 'Resurrect' and 'Inspire' days. It's a neat if over-the-top little tune that's coming at you hot for a really good cause, so that's great to see!
