Reject conformity & find real connections with new He Danced Ivy hybrid, 'Toothcutter.'

Queensland genre-splicing maniacs He Danced Ivy excel at creating weird and wild, eclectic tracks with melodic vocal hooks and big-ass riffs. Metal, punk, pop, and prog all collide when these guys put their musical heads together. That was very much true of their solid 2018 EP, 'Optimistic Cynic,' and it rings just as loud and true now with their new single, 'Toothcutter.' While perhaps a little more straight-froward in sound and style than previous material, it's still a killer prog-punk jam through and through, and we're stoked to be pushing it out there into the world today.

He Danced Ivy's new tune is all about the weird current paradox of social conformity: people being addicted to their own individuality and being themselves in the 21st century, with the lyrics declaring that "'ambition' is a dirty word", "preaching to the choir, that is my addiction", and that "individualism is a fucking prison." Ironically enough though, He Danced Ivy still sound like their own individual selves here on 'Toothcutter.' And that's so exciting! Excluding their good friends in Osaka Punch and Twelve Foot Ninja, there just aren't enough bands like these dudes in Australia right now, which puts them in their own league.
