The curse of knowledge that ends blissful ignorance is the concept behind Pridelands' new release, 'Dark Sources'. Whether it's learning about certain atrocities occurring in other countries on the other side of the planet, to understanding how certain industries operate, or finding out a secret about a friend or loved one that you shouldn't know, it's about the in-action and guilt when you can no longer hide behind frail ignorance. It's a song about facing up to the forbidden truths, how they control us once we let them in, and poses a much larger question: "would we really be happier without knowing what we now know?"

'Dark Sources' itself is a darker, rockier, nu-metalish take on the riff-driven, melodic metalcore formulae the group cultivated with 2018's solid 'Any Colour You Desire' EP. It's a slight stylistic shift that fits in with the tone and mood of the lyricism, whilst still retaining the spacier, heavier and hookier qualities of Pridelands. While it's long and far away from my personal favourite Pridelands song, it's not half bad either; just somewhat forgettable outside of it's bending, djenty riff output and the always-integral, always-effective dual-vocal play between vocalists Mason Bunt and Joshua Cory, with the former singing a little bit more too.
