Surroundings awaited second record, 'Glass Heart', will finally land on March 1st, 2019.

A new Surroundings record is comin' in hot in 2019.

Hot off the heels of solid new tune, the beautifully heavy 'Chronesthesia', shining Perth melodic-metalcore outfit Surroundings have exclusively revealed early to us the deets and artwork of their second LP, 'Glass Heart'. Nearly two years in the meticulous making by now, 'Glass Heart' is finally seeing the light of day soon enough, dropping on March 1st, 2019. For anyone like myself who has been patiently waiting a good year or so for a new record from the band, this recent news is a neat little Christmas gift!

The follow-up to 2014's solid debut full-length, 'Of Bane, Burden & Change', the WA act have refined their sound ever since; honing a dynamic and tight combination of expansive melody and heavier hardcore elements. While I think it's safe to say that you can expect plenty more of that style on this next album, that's not a bad thing in my eyes. In fact, this new record is also going to feature a few familiar faces, with their past three singles - the catchy-as-fuck 'Paper Cranes', as well as 'Jane' and 'Elizabeth' - receiving some new production glam to be consistent with their album siblings.

Elaborating on pulling the pieces of this puzzle together, the Perth band commented to us that:

Overlying it all is the our commitment to polish, detail, and focus. The result is an album which was crafted slowly, carefully, and built to last. We didn't need to make this album but we were driven to produce something special”.

Hopefully, the end result will indeed be something special. For in their time together, Surroundings have been slowly but surely solidifying themselves with sharp yet emotional sonics and positive, hopeful lyrical messages. It's been a winning combo so far, and something tells me that that's going to continue well enough with the sounds of 'Glass Heart' come March 2019.
