The last time we had a new record from U.S. emo-saviours Saves The Day was back in 2013 with their self-titled album. Now, in 2018, the quartet will return armed with new music in the shape of '9'.

Upcoming full-length, the fittingly titled '9', will be Saves The Day’s ninth studio record and contains all-up nine new songs that. This latest record is set to tell the story of the American band's history through the perspective of its founder and frontman, Chris Conley. “This album is the story of Saves The Day and my own personal journey through life, which all unfolded as my relationship with music progressed,” stated the vocalist in a recent presser.

Which is what new single 'Rendezvous' lyrically reflects on: playing backyard house shows, the excitement of just being in the band, touring around the world, learning new languages, performing countless shows together, and the general trance of gigging life. Going from Berlin, Germany to JFK Airport, all the way back home, and then doing such long treks all over again in no short time. It's a song trying to condense a massive 24-year career into three and a half minutes, and I think they've done a solid job of it.

Saves The Day have survived and endured van accidents, line-up changes, the emo explosion, and growing from young adolescence to adulthood while keeping a touring band alive. Their current lineup includes guitarist Arun Bali (who also produced, mixed and engineered the new record), bassist Rodrigo Palma and drummer Dennis Wilson, and along with Chris, marks the band's most consistent iteration thus far. Hopefully boding well for the rest of '9', which drops on October 26th via the folks over at Equal Vision Records.

Packed to the teeth with awesome vocal hooks and melodies, the song does have a more alternative rock vibe than the pop-punk stylings of their fabled past. Which won't really be a new style for those listeners not stuck in their teen years and who only listen to 'Through Being Cool' and 'Stay What You Are' (2001) on repeat. In short, I'm a fan of it. And I'd encourage any and all fans of Saves The Day - young and old - to check out 'Rendezvous' below:
