Bloc Party will be playing their stunning debut album in full this November!

Bloc Party performing in-full the seminal 'Silent Alarm' in Australia is the stuff of my dreams.

There are some records that transcend the first time you hear them or the year that they were released in; becoming as much apart of your being as your own skin. Bloc Party's 2005 debut album, 'Silent Alarm', is one such record for myself and countless others. It's no big-call to label it as a modern day classic for indie-rock and the post-punk revival scene. One that's built off the emotionally resonating lyrics and vocals of frontman Kele Okereke; the dynamic sounds and lavish chords of talented lead guitarist Russell Lissack; as well as the lively, pulsating drumming of Matt Tong, whose playing defined the band's earlier years so well.

Awesome instrumental and musical performances aside, this 13-year-old album still has so much good will behind it. Mainly due to the infectious guitar-driven singles of 'Helicopter' and 'Banquet', as well as it's strongest deep cuts like the racey 'Luno', the haunting album closer 'Compliments', and the teenage-poetry angst of 'This Modern Love'. Plus, who can forget the brilliantly chilling opening track of 'Like Eating Glass' - forever a fan-favourite and live set staple. Hearing that particular song for the first time on the Tony Hawk's American Wasteland soundtrack as a younger man was a life-altering moment for me. Pulling me head-long into the larger record as a teen and becoming a release that has stuck with me ever since.

While the Bloc Party's sound has developed over the years to a poppier iteration, and while their lineup has changed over the years too, 'Silent Alarm' remains a beautiful moment in time. It's a record that not even 2007's incredibly solid 'A Weekend In The City' could top, and one that will be relived in the flesh come the U.K. outfit's Australian tour when they perform this stunning LP in its entirety later this year. See you all there!
