Alpha Wolf Reveal New Members, Lochie Keogh & Mitchell Fogarty

Alpha Wolf are planning their return sooner rather than later.

Earlier this year in February, Alpha Wolf parted ways with vocalist Aidan Ellaz for reasons that don’t need to be rehashed here. After that split, many speculated just when the band would return and with who. Now, we know that the Greyscale Records stars will most likely be plotting their comeback to happen sooner rather than later.

Joining the Melbourne heavy outfit on vocals is the former Earthender vocalist, Lochie Keogh. For those who heard the groove-metalcore sounds of Earthender before they called it quits in December 2016, then you’ll know that Keogh will hopefully make for more than a fitting frontman for Alpha Wolf’s sound – both old and new. Then, on the drums, Queensland-based drummer Mitchell Fogarty has now been ushered in as a full-time member of the group, despite having kept time for the band from the latter half of 2017 right up until this year. In any case, the dude’s a solid drummer and it’s great to see him finally being properly added to their line-up.

While there’s no new music yet from this current iteration of Alpha Wolf, in the band’s Facebook post today welcoming their two newest members, they included a mysterious little Braille code of, which reads: “⠃⠇⠁⠉⠅⠀⠍⠁⠍⠃⠁“.

Using literally any Braille alphabet found online, this code spells out “Black Mamba”. So me reckons this is either going to be the name of the band’s first new single back, the name of their next album, or maybe even both. In any case, I guess we all now know why the group updated their cover photos on Facebook to be nothing but black.

Also, seeing as how this band love their video games, comics and animes – going so far to name a song on ‘Mono‘ after the Pokédex number of Cubone to even making reference to Dark Souls 3 in ‘Devon St.‘ – “Black Mamba” could mean a few things. It could be a reference to the Yu-Gi-Oh card of the same, be pulled from the Marvel comics villain, or perhaps even a reference to Beatrix Kiddo’s codename from the Kill Bill films.

Either way, we’ll all find out more in time.

Probably never? It’s Sabian’s thing now. Lots of other band dudes do it too – Northlane, for instance.
