While we're all waiting for new Defeater, Rained In are here help to fill in the gaps.

Massachusetts' heroes Defeater have no doubt created some of the best records that modern hardcore has ever seen, namely 2011's phenomenal 'Empty Days & Sleepless Nights', as well as 2013's harrowing 'Letters Home'. But the last time we had any new material from Defeater to wring out our hearts with were their covers of The Misfits 'Where Eagles Dare' and Nirvana's 'Blow' as well as that gorgeously moving B-Side from 2015's 'Abandoned' LP - 'Still & True'. And my fingers are crossed hard for a new record to drop soon!

Yet while Defeater sure isn't a dead or defunct band, and while they'll most likely return this year or come 2019, there's now a nice little time fill in with frontman Derek Archambault's new band: Rained In.

Engineered, mixed and mastered by Mike Moschetto, this new group's recently released five-track demo isn't half bad. It's also evidence of a far bitter, chunkier, and riffier hardcore sound than what people would come from Defeater; forging all of that band's acoustic lulls, wider lyrical narrative and darker melodic moments that they became so well known for. But that's not necessarily a bad thing, as if you've ever wanted to hear Archambault front a rawer and overall heavier band than his usual creative outlet than this new project is the living breathing answer to those dreams.
