My first impressions of Back Garden Light were not good, but their new single 'Jumping Fences' has turned me over onto this French band. See, the first time that I heard Back Garden Light, it was for their childish, poorly cobbled and crigney easycore cover of the Jackson 5's 'I Want You Back'. I would not wish that experience on anyone else, quite frankly.

However, I gave this French outfit another change regarding 'Jumping Fences' (found below) and it was a much better experience overall. Sure, the group are still just jacking the pop-punk/easycore sounds of A Day To Remember, older Four Year Strong, and of course, France's own Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! What with their hooky clean vocals, occasional growls, poppy choruses, angsty lyrics, and groovier chugging guitars. But there is a noticeable growth here as well as a real change in quality from their synth-heavy earlier material and that aforementioned ill-advised cover that we shan't ever speak of again.

The new track's lyrical theme is that of leaving, of travelling, and of wanderlust and that works well in conjunction with the track's music video, showing the band touring Japan for the first time and all the things they saw and experienced on the trip. It fits so nicely together and hints at deeper maturity to come from Back Light Garden. Again, it's not bad at all, so have a look below:
