2017 has been a big year for Northern Rivers, NSW rockers, Hammers. The band kicked off the Year of our Lord 2017 by supporting Aussie legends The Screaming Jets for a run of shows throughout regional NSW, before returning home to support American rockers Nashville Pussy in Brisbane. (Wow, what an awful band name)

Shortly after these two solid support slots, Hammers underwent a significant lineup change, enlisting new guitarist/vocalist Lucas Stone, and drummer Ryan 'Ruckus' Lucas, both former members of HELM. These two new members now join vocalist and founding band member, Leigh 'Fish' Dowling and bassist Ricky T. (We don't know what the 'T' stands for, so just use your imagination).

With the new lineup finely assembled, the four-piece began writing a new full-length and debuted their new lineup live with a set at Wallpalooza Festival on the Gold Coast this September. With the majority of this new record completed, Hammers have teamed up with us to drop the release's first single, the riff-heavy banger, 'Dead Set'.

'Dead Set' - a true Australian song title if there ever was one - sees the four-piece venturing into heavier territory, with vocalist Fish screaming like a man-possessed throughout the song, underpinned by these raging walls of distorted guitars and thick bass lines and surging drum grooves. When asked what the song was actually about, the frontman stated that 'Dead Set' is "....about change - it's about the Aussie working class spirit, it's about pushing through the shit that life sometimes throws your way, holding your head high and triumphantly coming out the other side."

Right on! Check out the new single below:
