Holy fucking shit, it's actually happening!

This coming Friday, December 1st, Glassjaw will release their first album in 15 years - 'Material Control'. No, it's not a joke and I almost can't believe this is happening; that a new Glassjaw record is a real thing that actually exists in both physical and digital forms.

'Material Control', which has been a long time coming now, will follow up Glassjaw's classic 2002 LP, 'Worship and Tribute' (a personal all-time favourite record of yours truly) and their incredibly solid 2011 EP, 'Coloring Book' ('Black Nurse' for life, fam). In a 2016 interview with Revolver, vocalist Daryl Palumbo was asked why there was such a long wait between their last release and new music, with him stating that:

"...we write a lot. When the band is at the forefront, that’s when the spark really seems to happen. If it was up to me and him, we’d get together every weekend and make an album almost every few months. But I think the most poignant and potent Glassjaw [comes from] us stockpiling the goodness until it’s time to do it. And when it’s time to do it, the universe very much lets us know.

So it seems that the time to "do it" has arrived and that the universe has not only told the band to proceed but also given fans what they've wanted for years now: a new album!

Stream the first song from the newly announced record, 'Shira', below. And my god, it's fucking killer! Everything from the song's structure, the tempo, the riffs, the choruses, the production is just classic Glassjaw but still just as potent as they ever were.

In typical Glassjaw fashion or rather, in typical Justin Beck fashion of not-really--giving-a-fuck, some people have already received their physical cardboard flexidiscs copies of the record well ahead of time.
