They're actually pretty good!

Code Orange's Eric Balderose remixing alt-J? This truly is the strangest timeline.

As anyone who's heard Code Orange will tell ya, the Pennsylvanian band have their brutally heavy moments of intensive hardcore throughout their career, but that they also display weirder, electronic and industrial flares in their music. Most of which are more noticeable on this year's solid LP, 'Forever'. With the group gaining wider coverage for their collaborations in the WWE world and getting coverage from Adult Swim for 'The Mud', their music is quickly expanding far beyond the heavy realms. And that now goes another step further with their two remixes of alt-J's songs, 'Adeline' and 'Hit Me Like That Snare' - both taken from alt-J's 2017 record, 'Relaxer'.

The remixes were written and produced by Code Orange's guitarist/synth player/co-vocalist Eric "Shade" Balderose. What resulted in his bending of alt-J's work has taken something that was originally pleasant, indie and calming and then morphed into a weirder soundscape of abstract, electronic, industrial sounds full of noisy synths, some harsh vocals and hard-hitting percussion; sounding more like Nine Inch Nails and Ministry than anything resembling alt-J. Even so, they're both baller remixes (the 'Adeline' remix is my favourite) and Balderose is one fucking talented dude, that's for sure! (He even fully released his own album, 'It's Almost Forever' on the band's merch store instead of being cool and only selling it at the band's live shows).

Also, I'm guessing that this all first came about after alt-J did a live performance on Conan earlier this year where singer/guitarist Joe Newman wore a Killswitch Engage shirt and drummer Gus Unger-Hamilton repped Code Orange.

Anyway, as a bit of a whiplashing reference, be sure to check out the original versions of 'Hit Me Like That Snare' and 'Adeline' if you're not familiar with them before diving headlong into these darker, heavier versions. Then, once you've done that, go suss out these two solid Code Orange remixes below:
