Matt Cross calls himself “a modern-day pirate”. He travels the world wrestling, living & learning on the open road, as well as catching some local punk and hardcore shows along the way.

But before he was wrestling in over 25 countries, Cross grew up as a punk rock and hardcore-loving kid in Brecksville, Ohio. His passion and knowledge of legendary punk and hardcore bands seemingly knows no bounds, with the bearded high-flyer always up for a chat with whoever wants to listen to him reminisce about the exact moment he heard a Face to Face, Rancid or Operation Ivy song for the very first time. Most famously, in his most recent wrestling trip to Japan, the straight-edge Cross found himself on stage with Ohio brethren and hardcore legends Integrity, singing along to a Misfits song in a dive bar in Japan.

Before his recent match against Jonah Rock at Melbourne City Wrestling Seven on October 14th, I was lucky enough to briefly sit down with “M-Dogg” and talk to him about his favourite bands, albums and professional wrestling entrance themes.
