‘A Lie They Call Truth’ goes hard indeed.
Ahead of the Perth bands BIGSOUND performance next week, we’re very excited to bring you all the very first taste of Scalphunter’s new LP, ‘Lies‘. Entitled ‘A Lie They Call The Truth‘, this second rocking track from WA group’s forthcoming album is a distorted, rowdy dose of fast, riff-heavy punk rock over the course of a rippin’ two minutes and forty seconds.
As for the song’s lyrical intentions, vocalist Steve Knoth says that “This song is about first realising you are being lied to.” However, while that seems like a very umbrella description, the song was actually politically motivated, as he adds, “I wrote [it] in response to bullshit media campaigns being used to spread fear of immigrants coming to Australia. Convenient lies at convenient times to win elections.”
As for the larger record of ‘Lies’ that’s soon to arrive, the vocalist also states that it “…is not a concept album but it leans heavily on an idea of a disenfranchised generation that has had enough of being lied to. Every aspect of modern living is born out of lies. These songs are about waking up from this life we are being drip fed by mainstream media, the government, schools, the church. Don’t believe anything you read or hear that you haven’t seen with your own eyes. I believe every person knows what is right and what is wrong. It’s time to stop talking and start doing.”
Scalphunter’s ‘Lies‘ will be released on September 29th, 2017 via Arrest Records/Firestarter, with pre-orders going live this Friday, September 1st.
