I may actually go to Bang! for this one.

Chester Bennington's sudden death blindsided countless people last month, myself included. To say his passing has rocked the musical community would be a vast understatement; just go onto YouTube right now and see all of the Linkin Park covers still coming out. Bennington's death, tragically by suicide no less, once again brought to light the many issues and the hiding-just-below-the-surface stigma that still surrounds mental health, especially within the heavy music scene.

As such, our good friends over at Destroy All Lines and Friends Like Us both proudly present what will be one of Bang's most poignant nights of the year - "HEAVY: MUSIC FOR MENTAL HEALTH". Going down on Saturday, August, 19th at the Melbourne club, promoters and organisers invite friends, family and strangers alike to all come together and create awareness and help to break down the stigma of mental health in some small way.

In a very kind gesture, both Destroy All Lines and Bang! have pledged $10 from every ticket sale to go towards Beyond Blue to help further their tireless work towards providing the information and support for everyone in Australia, with a $10k fundraising goal now set. A guest speaker from the national mental health organisation, ambassador Sam Gaskin, will also speak on the night and gold coin donations for any and all DJ requests will also be donated.

With Melbourne locals BLKLST and Atlantic, playing back to back sets and DJ's - including Triple J hosts Lachlan Watt (THE RACKET) & Josh Merriel (Short.Fast.Loud) - being backed up by various members from the likes of Alpha WolfEarth CallerBoris The BladeStorm The Sky, and Deez Nuts, August 19th is set to go off in a very fun yet very reflective manner. All in honour of a great vocalist who will be dearly missed.
