A return that I can fully get behind.

A return that I can fully get behind.

Despite the fact that Alaska's best export that isn't snow and horribly cold weather - 36 Crazyfists - released 'Time and Trauma' back in 2015, it feels like they've been gone for an age.

Maybe that's due to the fact that their last record didn't quite hit the high reaches that the now-classic 'A Snow Capped Romance' or 'Rest Inside The Flames' and 'The Tide And Its Takers' hit. Or maybe it's because the Anchorage quartet just didn't tour out here in Australia for their last release. (In fact, I don't think they've been back here since Soundwave 2011). Hopefully, that will all change this year or at least in 2018 as 36 Crazyfists get ready to unleash what has been slanted as their most personal record yet - 'Lanterns'.

Landing on September 29th via Spinefarm Records and Caroline Australia, the band's seventh full-length will be the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel; something that 36 Crazyfists understand quite well. On releasing their new album's first single, 'Death Eater', vocalist Brock Lindow recently told Loudwire that, "It's a reflection of self and the dwellings of rock bottom, discovering the tools to dig yourself out, and refusing to let yourself free fall into the abyss of hopelessness. Love, forgive, and never give in. In fact, Lanterns is about the fight within us all... forever refusing to sink."

Go stream 'Death Eater' and it's riffy, groove-laden punch-filled flow below. Need I say more? It's new 36 Crazyfists and it shows off everything that was great about the band's sound to begin with while giving it a fresh lick of paint. Get around it!
