What's this? Oh, nothing, just Young Lions once again proving why they're one of Australia's best musical exports.

What's this? Oh, nothing, just Young Lions once again proving why they're one of Australia's best musical exports.

With their anthemic and emotional ‘Burn The Money’ single dropping back in late March, we're over the moon to share with you all tonight the excellent new music video and single from Brisbane's Young Lions - ‘Destroy Me’.

With this beautiful, soaring, yet bittersweet new track, whose black and white music video picks up right after the events of 'Burn The Money', Young Lions are gearing up to launch their brand new full-length album, 'Mr Spaceman' (their first since 2015's superb 'Blue Isla'). And of course, what better way than to release an album with such a title then on peak time with the Lunar Calendar - Tuesday, August 8th, 2017; the very day that Australians will witness a partial but nonetheless spectacular lunar eclipse. Quite fitting for a record that follows it's protagonist's undertaking of a vast journey into deep space!

“For this album, we decided to take a bit of a different approach as it follows a character on a journey into space to deal with all sorts of inter-dimensional learning curbs”, says singer Zach Britt on the concept of 'Mr Spaceman'. “Writing a concept album, in retrospect, was a way for us to push the boundaries and open our minds, lyrically and musically, so that we felt we could push the limits of what Young Lions is. Using space as a landscape for such a journey seemed a logical way for us to go”.

The release of the rock outfit's upcoming third album has been a long time coming now, but it seems to be worth the wait if these two current singles are anything to go on! Do yourself a favour and stream 'Destroy Me' below.

Britt also shares his overwhelming enthusiasm for his band's new record, saying how it's been a labour of love and how the ebb and flow of life has affected this record's direction.

"Honestly, it has been a test of all our patience waiting for the right pieces of the puzzle to fall into place for the release of this project. So many highs and lows over the last year have definitely had us up against the wall at some points but it makes the final moments all the sweeter. All I want to do is share this with people. I want everyone that has ears to hear this thing. I can't explain how much I mean that.”

And we're more than happy for the band to continually share their music with the world!

After recently supporting The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus earlier this month, Young Lions are stepping into the headline position this September. The band have created a solid reputation for their live shows, and with good reason. Our very own Owen Morawitz labelled their support set under U.S. emo-rockers Bayside in November as “a stellar performance” and “a catchy and fervent set”.
