Queensland's Balloons Kill Babies have new material on the way this year in the form of a new EP, & we've got the first taste of it right now!

Today, we're very keen to be streaming the brand new killer track from Brisbane heavy instrumental post-rock trio, Balloons Kill Babies, 'HTFK'.

'HTFK' is the first cut from the group's upcoming EP, titled 'Prodromal' which will be released in early September of this year. This dark, brooding track that's like If These Trees Could Talk with Dir En Grey instrumentals and a hint of Muse, will be available to purchase on May 3rd via iTunes and is the band's first release with Scott Davey behind the drums; who has previously kept time for other Aussie bands like Three Tonne Deep and Dead Letter Circus.

"It's been a while since we've put out a release and we'd been working on a new record with our former drummer Francis Daly and long-term collaborator Greg Olley for a while", says guitarist Christian Carter to us over email.

He adds, "When Scott (Davey) joined the band he brought a whole new approach to all of the songs and it just got to that point where we couldn't imagine hearing them any other way, so we decided to team up with Govinda Doyle and put together a new EP, something that's more of a reflection of the band we are now. We spent countless hours putting all the pieces of this big puzzle together making sure it was exactly what we wanted it to be and Govinda just had a perfect ear for our sound. HTFK is a bit of a re-introduction to the band after this time off and a taste of what's to come from the rest of the record!"

This forthcoming EP was recorded, mixed and mastered by Govinda Doyle, who has managed the fader levels for other acts such as Dead Letter Circus, Three Tonne Deep, Love Hate Rebellion, and Angus & Julia Stone, hence why the mix here is solid and fitting for the band's dark, dynamic and overall heavy instrumental sound.

'HTFK' - a tribute to the Melbourne electronic group, HTRK - is also the follow-up to their solid 2015 single 'Patches In The Sky' and you can stream this new rager below!

Balloons Kill Babies next show will be the sixth Aether Sessions on May 12th at Wolly Mammoth, Fortitude Valley, where BKB will be performing a soft "post-rock" set including new and old material; some of which hasn't been performed live in years. Aether Sessions #6 will also feature supports from Post-Dusk, Tall Pines and Xana Chambers. Grab your tickets to the show here!
