Ill Niño & Terror Universal; an alternative metal double whammy tour for y'all!

Back in 2001, American alternative metal/"latin metal" act, Ill Niño released their debut album, ‘Revolution Revolución’ and apparently for a lot of people, that record was a big fucking deal. So much so that sixteen years on since its initial release, the album will be toured in full across five dates in Australia come this August for its tardy fifteen-year tour. (Hey, better late than never, I suppose.)

The New Jersey outfit who are commonly known for deriving their moniker from a meteorological event combined slight Latin elements such as Flamenco guitar parts and bongo and conga percussion sections mixed with a groovy, nu-metal-like hardcore sound on their debut, delivered in both English and Spanish. Which to me just sounds like Sepultura but with extra steps.

Anyway, I must admit that this record's existence slipped me by when I was but a six-year-old lad in the distant year of 2001, but after checking out the below YouTube playlist of the record, I can see why this was a very big deal for many back in the day. Still a solid listen by today's standards too. Of course, this post isn't

Of course, this post isn't just about Ill Niño, we also have Terror Universal to discuss!

Ah yes, Terror Universal.

Joining that NJ sextet is the "Horror Metal cannibals" act (cringe), Terror Universal, the masked metal band who probably wishes they were on the same level of Slipknot. Or hell, maybe even Mudvayne. This dark, heavy four-piece feature current and former members of Machine HeadIll Niño & Soulfly, namely the latter with Ill Niño guitarist and drummer, Ahrue Luster and Dave Chavarri respectively, founding the band a couple years back. As their both still in the headlining act, the pairs back to back sets are going to be a slog, but something tells me these dudes have it in the bag.

Now, the last time that Terror Universal was here was in 2015 for Soundwave in support of their debut EP, 'Reign Of Terror', back when they still had singer Chad Armstrong AKA Rott fronting the band. Since then Wacy Jahn has stepped in to replace the former vocalist, and even has his own inner band moniker - Plague

Funnily enough, that debut EP is also the band's only key release to date. I naturally assume that something is coming from these guys in the near future and that a new song or two will be featured in this tour sets. So keep your eyes and ears peeled for new shit from this masked quartet in the near future. In the meantime, here's 'Welcome To Hell'.

As a little incentive for new and die-hard fans, the first 300 tickets sold in each city will receive an exclusive 2 song download of unreleased songs from ‘Revolution Revolucion’. Tickets go on sale to the masses on Wednesday, April 5th at 9:00am from your pals over at Destroy All LinesCheck out the dates below!
