Seven strong local supports that have all been handpicked by Architects themselves.

Triple J Unearthed teamed up with Architects to add one local artist to each show of their upcoming Australian tour in May. Now, the winners have been announced and considering that that tour is getting closer and closer to fully selling out, this could put plenty of solid yet somewhat unknown local bands in front of a great many people.

The seven tour support winners were personally selected by the UK band and will join both the English lads as well as national support, Melbourne's own Ocean Grove, for a show in their respective hometowns.

So, at Max Watts in Brisbane on May 2nd, local melodic hardcore Daybreakers will be the opening act. As for Melbourne, we have deathcore purveyors Gravemind opening the show on May 3rd, who are easily one of the most promising deathcore bands Australia has going right now. Victorian metalcore upstarts Thornhill will be kicking things off on May 4th which is geat momentum for these guys having just recently dropped their kickass banger, 'Temperer' and with more material set to drop later this year. On May 5th local heavy/pop-punk act, The Beautiful Monument will be warming up the crowd first and one can definitely expect their newest single 'Manifestation' to get a good mention. Chaotic hardcore outfit Arteries are hitting the stage prior to Ocean Grove and Architects at The Metro Theatre on May 9th. On the following night at the same Sydney venue, the local old-school metalcore bros in Junkhead will be first on, delivering tunes from their recent EP, 'Warmouth'. Then over in Fremantle for the tour's final show, local heavy outfit Iconoclast will be bringing the mosh early on.

"Congrats to all the bands that made the cut for these shows,” Architects drummer Dan Searle adds on the winners. “There were plenty of great bands that didn't quite make it and we were amazed by the quality of bands that Australia has to offer in the heavy music scene. New music is alive and well. See you guys in May.

As for these seven support band's themselves, Triple J Unearthed surprised each of them with a phone call delivering them the good news, which you can listen to below. Honestly, hearing their excited reactions definitely brought a smile to my face.

Well done, guys!
