After almost five years embroiled in a lawsuit with Victory Records, A Day To Remember have finally won their lawsuit against the label, with Victory set to the payout over four million dollars in unpaid royalties. Goddamn.

A statement from A Day To Remember can be read below:

"As many of you know, more than 5 years ago we filed a lawsuit against Victory Records seeking freedom and resolution on several issues we had with them. For the past 2 weeks we have been in court arguing our case. Yesterday, the jury came back with a unanimous verdict in the trial granting us that freedom and resolution. Thank you to the fan base for supporting us through this difficult time, we couldn’t have done this without you. This isn’t just a victory for us but also a victory for every band wronged over the years. Right doesn’t always win, but yesterday it did."

At this point, I do have to wonder why a lot of bands are still signing with Victory Records or at least thinking of signing with the US label. Now, to play devil's  advocate here, Emmure's fromer guitarist, Jesse Ketive told me once in an interview that, "Tony and the gang at Victory, just everyone there is doing right by us. They’ve got ideas, we’ve got ideas and we both just keep it all moving and moving. Especially for this record cycle, they’re doing. [They’re doing] so much for us and we couldn’t be happier." And that "You do have to play ball and understand that you’ve got different people with different feelings, who all want to do different things from time to time. Sometimes bands just lose their minds and think this and think that and that can create this big argument of nothing, and it’s just not worth it. It’s more important to just try and make things happen smoothly and thankfully, Victory and us do that really well."

Plus, if you're a listener of the terrific podcast, Lead Singer Syndrome, host Shane Told mentioned that Silverstein was always well looked after at Victory, despite the maniacal bullshit of head honcho, Tony Brummel.

So it's not all doom and gloom with the label, however, the same "pleasant" experiences can't be said for bands like Thursday, Hawthorne Heights, Atreyu, Taking Back Sunday and many other bands and if you haven't read it, this massive tell-all piece from an ex-employee (Ramsey Dean) about the label is recommended reading. So in conclusion, it's a luck of the draw when signing or working with this label? Sigh.

Okay then... rant over.

Oh, and holy shit, the comments on the band's Facebook post about the win are just the worst fucking kind of band/song puns. You should all be ashamed.
