Premiere Stream: Advocates Aggressive New Single, ‘Beaten’

On December 8th, Melbourne heavy outfit Advocates will be dropping their new EP, ‘The Complex Truth‘. But ahead of the EP’s release, we’re now streaming the new single, ‘Beaten‘, which also features Landon Tewers of The Plot In You.

The new three and a half minute track was spun on short.fast.loud last night but now through the medium of YouTube – and ourselves here at Killyourstereo.com – you can stream it again and again and again. And again. The song was recorded by the band’s guitarist Mason Hine and was mixed/mastered by Chris Foster of First Strike Audio.

This new EP comes at the tail end of a decent year for the band, from nabbing some decent support slots, their own headline dates, to seeing the local group dropping previous tracks ‘Choke‘ and ‘Destructive Tendencies‘, the latter of which had a really lovely, upbeat, cheery music video accompanying it. (note the sarcasm there; that film clip was pretty fucking dark).

Upon announcing their new EP, Advocates stated via social media that, “We have poured everything into these tracks and we are very proud of what we have created. It’s an honest, raw and aggressive take on how we view certain issues plaguing our world right now.”

As for those aforementioned themes, I think it’s quite clear after a listen or two what songs like ‘Substance Affliction‘, this new song track, ‘Beaten‘, and ‘Destructive Tendencies‘ all deal with, and what helps bring that home are the overtly pissed-off lyrics, heavy riffs and vocal deliveries, and the artwork for ‘The Complex Truth‘ (which you can see below).

You can stream the dark and heavy new single below and suss out digital pre-orders here and any and all physical merch/CD bundles can be picked up over here.
