Goodnight, sweet princes.

In a flu, bed-ridden coma, I scrolled through my news feeds on Wednesday morning and thought I had simply imagined Stories announcing they were putting the band on hold in my run-down, tired state. But with a clearer head and a clean bill of health I have since learned that yes, Sydney's Stories are indeed going an indefinite hiatus that will take effect later this year.

Well, fuck.

The band has had a pretty healthy run in the local Australian scene, but they never really made it overseas, both in their popularity and in their touring habits. But with this announcement, that may never be the case, sadly.

Stories last full tour will be their support slot for Enter Shikari and Hacktivist next month, with a final farewell show in their hometown of Sydney to be announced for later this year. Keep your eyes open for that announcement, that'll be one not to miss!

You can read the band's full statement below.

"Hey everyone,

this is a hard thing to announce, but we have decided to take an indefinite hiatus following the Enter Shikari tour in September. We feel that this is for the best and we are all eager to pursue other passions and opportunities at this point of our lives. We want to say thank you to everyone we've been blessed to have met over the years and to anyone who has ever supported this band. We've had the opportunity to play with some of our favourite bands and made friends from all over the world whom we will never forget. Words can't describe the beautiful moments we've experienced throughout the duration of this band. Music is magic in its ability to bring people together and enlighten us all in unique ways. You have all played a part in this journey, one that can never be recreated. If you can, we'd love to see you at a show on the Enter Shikari tour next month. We will be playing a final show in Sydney later in the year which will be announced soon.

It has been an amazing 6 years, stay real and thank you for the ride."

Well, that's a massive bummer. I must say that our homegrown scene is worse off with the band's absence.

Look, as much as I enjoyed their debut album 'The Youth To Become' and it's heavy, Underoath-worship sound, their 2013 EP, 'Void', will forever be the best release Stories had to their name. Spin it and spin it loud.
