"Is this solidarity?" Yes, yes it is Pridelands, & and it's also a ripper of a new song, too!

Melbourne's Pridelands have recently ushered in a new single with their latest release, 'Coalesce'.

At first, you may think that this quartet's gone soft on you, with the intro's soft vocals from Joshua Cory (AKA Marcus Bridge's stunt double) and those sweet, clean guitars, but then those typical Pridelands riffs and Mason Bunt's screams hit, and man, they hit hard!

It's about this point that you'll hopefully realise that Pridelands has really upped their game. Not saying that the songs from their last EP, 'Natives', were bad - they were all pretty damn solid, especially 'Devil's Snare' - but 'Coalesce' shows a lot more promise for the Melbourne outfit.

The song was produced, mixed & mastered by the usual suspects of Lance Prenc and Jamie Marinos (formerly of the mighty Sentinel), and you can pick up the new track from their Bandcamp page. That's my really non-subtle way of saying that you should totally go and do that. Now!

Filmed by Crystal Arrow Films, the footage cuts between a woman traversing a beautiful forest landscape and a mysterious hooded figure traversing a ruined urban environment that's not far off from what Footscray looks like (no awards for guessing the themes/meaning behind this music video), along with footage of the band performing in a dilapidated building. Which is basically Heavy Band Music Video 101, but with Kieran Ellis-Jones (AKA Crystal Arrow Films) behind the lens and a great tune to play over the visuals, the video really comes to life.

The film clip originally premiered via theMusic.com.au yesterday and you can stream the single/video below.

The band’s next two shows will be this Friday, July 29th, supporting Hellions in Melbourne at the Evelyn Hotel, and then in August at the second annual Mini-Fest, run by Backbone Bookings.
