So after some time away from the music scene, and with a singer having overcome many of his personal demons, Sum 41 are back in the saddle with a new single.

The band's first new song in what seems like forever, fittingly titled, 'Fake My Own Death', is a straight up Sum 41 jam. From the instrumentation, the chorus, the lyrics; it's basically where the band left off in 2011 with 'Screams Bloody Murder'.

The Canadian band's front man and rhythm guitarist, Deryck Whibley, said this about the track and the impending album through social media.

"Today is the day, we can’t wait any longer! You guys have been so patient and so awesome. We wanted you to have this, even though we’re still putting the final touches on the album and haven’t officially picked the first single yet... a new song with a video so you can see what the fuck we’re up to these days! Thank you all for being so patient! This one is for all the skumfuks! '13 VOICES' will be screaming on OCT. 7!" -

So if you were paying attention there, the band's first album in almost five years, '13 Voices', comes out on October 7th through Hopeless Records.

So... new Sum 41 or the new Blink-182?

Well, for me, I'd just like to quote a young Australian girl who has now become a famous Internet meme, "por qué no los dos?"
