Music community responds to The Story So Far incident

So, as is common place with the Internet, particularly with the prevalence of smart phones and social media, not many incidents these days go unnoticed, and undocumented.

As you've probably seen by now, repeated through a multitude of respective headlines, The Story So Far frontman Parker Cannon has come under fire after drop kicking a fan, who was attempting to take a selfie, off stage during the band's recent performance in Toronto (video available at the bottom of this post).

Subsequently, the band has been banned by the venue, Mod Club. "On behalf of the venue we are appalled by the actions of the singer and do not condone these actions by anyone," Mod Club general manager Jorge Dias said in a statement (as reported by Billboard). "There was no report of injuries and the venue will not allow the band to play the venue again for their actions. I have never imagined and never seen anything like that at the venue in 14 years in operation. That was a very cowardly act," the general manager added.

Accordingly, the reaction from the musical community has been divisive, with some response focusing on whether taking selfies is appropriate behaviour when at a gig, particularly when on stage, while other opinions have centred on the direct physicality of Cannon's actions.

Perhaps the biggest response was saved for The Banner frontman Joey Southside, though, who wrote the following statement:

"Ok im in a fucking mood today and have some free time so im going to do something i try not to do and comment on another band. The singer of this pretty hyped up pop punk band jumped and kicked some girl in the back off the stage because she wanted to take a selfie on stage, she wasnt ready for it or expecting it and kinda got launched forward.

This is a fucking pussy ass move on his part. Why you ask?

well first of all, the fact that youre asking "why?" makes you fucking suspect in my not at all humble opinion. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, If you're a dude and you hit a girl youre a straight up stone cold BITCH. I dont know who the fuck raised you or taught you about how to live as a fucking dude but you dont hit girls, you just dont. And i dont want to hear a litany of hypotheticals about "WELL WHAT IF SHES HIGH ON METH AND COMES AT YOU WITH A CHAINSAW AND..." Like fucking seriously? shut the fuck up , it doesnt even apply here.
