California's best "Progressive/Post-Whatever/Experimental" outfit, A Lot Like Birds, have announced they have parted ways with their vocalist, Kurt Travis.

In a public statement released earlier today, the band discussed their new album, what Travis will do next, and who will fill the role:

"Today we announce publicly that we have parted ways with our vocalist Kurt Travis. We are eternally grateful for and proud of everything Kurt has contributed to our band in the years since his induction, but it is time for both of us to move on and we wish him the best with his solo career (Kurt Travis) and his label Esque Records.

On April 11th A Lot Like Birds will be entering the studio to record our fourth and most ambitious album to date. On which our singer Cory Lockwood will be expressing the lyrical heart of our band in more melodic means, alongside our bassist/singer Matt Coate. We are extremely proud to share the personal and artistic growth we have achieved over the years since the release of No Place.

A brief clip of some new material was also released with the statement, and while it is a giant tease, it shows what we may more or less hear from their new record.
